Editorial

Good Morning and welcome to the Hoodies Daily for Wednesday.

Victoria – Namaste? How about, Victoria – The State to leave? Hmmm what about Victoria – The Corrupt state? Or what about we keep it simple and brutally true, Victoria – Woke & Broke! Maybe it’s none of these slogans but there’s no doubt we need a new number plate slogan because Victoria – The Education State isn’t going to fly anymore given the state government has cut school funding and won’t pay teachers what they’re worth. Not only are we cutting education funding and not giving teachers a pay rise but by 2030 10% of every dollar raised via government revenue will be used for interest payments on our debt. Maybe it’s actually Victoria – We are Cooked!

We have several farm dogs at home and I personally yell at them all the time so when Barnaby Joyce yelled at his dog on the ABC seriously who gives a shit?! And the animal rights morons who got upset isn’t that Flipper calling from the other side of the Pacific?! Are we for real here? The country is literally falling apart and the news is focusing on Joyce telling a dog to shut up? What the fuck are we doing?!

Well after both sides of the political divide killed off the Australian car manufacturing industry we’re now seeing major brands walk away from our shores. Peugeot and Fiat have announced they’re leaving with Nissan and Mitsubishi thinking about it as well. The mass influx of Chinese EV’s into Australia has killed the Australian car market and why does the Albanese government do about it? Brings in more Chinese EV brands. You have to wonder why Albo persists with US relations he’s got his head so far up the arse of the Chinese you’d think he’d be better off learning Mandarin and cancelling the subs.

Nine/Fairfax has announced more job cuts at the media company. The reason for the cuts? Ai. No it’s not a case that Ai can pump on stories faster and cheaper than actual journalists rather it’s that Ai is cutting out the need for news services. People aren’t paying for online news subscriptions anymore instead they go to an Ai platform for their news and cancelling out the middle man, in this case Nine/Fairfax.

Sorry Collingwood fans but Tassie is better off having Ken Hinkley as coach over Nathan Buckley. Hinkley brings old coaching bones to the new team, unlike Bucks who’d bring glitz glamour and bullshit none of which the new team needs. With Hinkley Tassie gets a players coach in the mould of Chris Fagan and one that isn’t interested in anything other than building a great team.

And finally watch out Dave Hughes they’re coming for you. Dave who has been a breath of fresh air with his step in the world of political commentary is now the subject of an online article from a fellow comedian who wanted to bring up the pre show habits of Hughes. Google it if you’re interested but the actual habit isn’t the story here, the story is that the articles have started to appear trying to turn Dave into a less than perfect character. Careful Dave the walls are about to close in.

Here it comes Dave

Hang on to your hat Dave here comes the noise. The noise that doesn’t like the fact that you’re calling out the hypocrisy, the corruption, the shady deals and the woeful incompetence from our elected representatives. This is how the left works Dave, they want what’s best for everyone so long as everyone toes the line and doesn’t ask any questions, if you do? Look out!

The way I position what we do is that I absolutely believe in the freedom of the individual but we need to be a more unified society that can make decisions collectively for the greater good. In the world of the left if you disagree with them that makes you a racist homophobic, transphobic, anti Islam, Palestinian hating bigot. You’re probably a conspiracy theorist and you’re more than likely a One Ntion voter. The left can’t handle the truth and do everything they can to escape talking about it.

When it comes to Pauline Hanson the media are actually going down the wrong pathway. What they should be investigating is why are people Turing away from the major parties, but instead what do they do? They go after anyone and everything that questions their intentions. Not only do the left go after the right wing parties they also criticise those that vote for them. You’re not Australian if you back One Nation, you’re not a team player if you’re supporting Pauline. No one is asking why are the majors so on the nose?

Dave Hughes who is outside the political world has taken a stand against Albo and looks now to  be at the beginning of being on the receiving end of what the progressives can do when they’re backs are up. Now I’m sure Dave can take care of himself but it’s going to get worse before it gets better just ask Pauline Hanson.

Even the federal Libs have yesterday said they’d never join forces with One Nation killing off any kind of coalition, why? Because if they did they’d be admitting the majors are in trouble and be going against the idea of maintaining them. Neither Labor or Liberal want One Nation to get anywhere near power so it’ll be more of the same until a media outlet actually asks why are the majors losing ground to Pauline and Dave Hughes.

The end to the car market in Australia?

Remember when it was Holden v Ford? The battle of the V8’s at Bathurst? Remember when you got your license in a manual car? Remember when you could feel the engine of the car pulsing through your body? Well now it’s whisper quiet EV’s whisking us across the city between charging points and greenies on e-bikes all waving at each other pretending they live in a utopic world full of clean renewable energy that can help clean the planet and bring back civilisation…ugh who the fuck wants to live there? Bring me a super charged V8 a chick in a bikini, a packet of Winnie blues, a slab of Jim Beam cans and let’s head for Bathurst!

The good old days…gone and never to be repeated but while some of our glorious past probably did need some sharpening up the issue around cars is getting more and more troubling by the day. See Labor loves China and China puts up with Australia because it can send us all their crap and cheaply made EV’s. Cars Chris Bowen thinks are saving the planet when in reality they’re not fit for purpose in Australia just yet.

The Chinese always said they were going to flood the world with their EV’s and they are, cheap ones to be specific, cheap ones major car manufacturers can’t compete with. With petrol  prices going through the roof thanks to Trump Australia has turned to the EV because well they actually make sense, but the cost? Competition.

See Albo and his mate Bowen wanted to show the greenies and the woke lefties that they could go renewable so offered incentives to car manufacturers bringing EV’s to Australia. So who was the country that could take advantage of those incentives and flood the market? China. And who does Albo love? China! So boom, every Chinese EV manufacturer that could send crap cars to Australia did.

But for the Australian car market it means that more and more manufacturers will bail. Peugeot and Fiat have announced they’re leaving and now Nissan and Mitsubishi could follow suit all because the feds made it easier for the Chinese.

Now the Australian consumer is better off of that there’s no doubt given their thirst for cheap EV’s but what of cars that actually need to be driven? Cars that like small businesses have a soul? Make you feel something good when you drive them? We seem to be heading for a world where everything is just meh, it’s not bad but it’s not fucking awesome. Cars that are ok, not awesome not bad but ok…and to good number of people that’s ok, including Albo, but if we want the V8’s the Winnie blues, the chick in the bikini, the Jimmy cans and a long straight road to Bathurst tell Albo and the Chinese to shove their EV’s.

Grow up fellas

I’m going to leave women aside in this little discussion but women are as guilty of not growing up as much as men are. For this article though let’s talk about men. Grow up!

Now I know we live in a world where we can be anything we want to and that you are only limited by your imagination in what’s possible but there’s also a little thing called reality involved in life as well. If you have absolutely no aptitude for brain surgery and you don’t like science chances are you’re not going to go into that field. Don’t like jumping out of aeroplanes? Perhaps don’t join the armed forces? Don’t like reading and have never found it to be your thing? Don’t be a lawyer or can’t play a musical instrument? Then maybe concert piano work isn’t your career path.

Now while we have to align our skills and passions with a pathway in life it hasn’t stopped numerous people, young men in particular taking to social media criticism the education system and society that told them they could do anything. I’m sorry but get a grip. And who takes to social media to have a sook when they can’t be an astronaut when flying isn’t their thing?

The more serious aspect to this though is that it’s seeing young men end up with serious depression and that’s not cool no matter who’s been told what. We need to get a grip here. We need to absolutely be telling young men they can achieve great things and they should have aspirations but not outside of what they’re actually capable of.

When it comes to older men lads, what the fuck are you doing? Yes get fit, yes change jobs and yes ride bikes in Lycra but seriously grow the fuck up! There was an article in the Fairfax papers today about how a 43 year old man said he was going to grow old disgracefully. He was out with the hair dye, into the Lycra and doing triathlons…cool, good luck, but have we got a family at home that says what the fuck are you doing? But it gets worse, see men in their 50’s who aren’t Hollywood actors still think they can be cool and appealing to younger women. Now in some cases it’s true that 28 year old women have Daddy issues and don’t mind moving into a one bedroom flat with a good looking 60 year old male, but really how often does that happen? I’m sorry to burst your bubble lads but if you’re on with a 28 year old and you’re over 50 chances are you drive a very flash sports car, have multiple homes and haven’t seen your dick in ten years.

I know there are a lot of lonely blokes out there who do want to meet someone and I wish them all the happiness they can find but for both young and older men the greatest happiness you can find is the one that’s closest to home. True happiness and contentment is in those closest to you, those small things that you can cast aside as not important when they’re everything. Get a dog, take it for a walk, ride a bike without the Lycra, read a book, learn a language be there for the kids for a partner.

Young men of the world find out who you are, that’s where aspirations come from and go do that. It might be that your greatest achievement in life will be driving a garbage truck but if you love it who gives a shit what anyone thinks. You might be the once in a generation talent that wins sporting awards and has 100 million followers on Instagram but if you don’t get there then you can say I gave everything I had. If you’re a man looking at middle age then you’re the same, be you, don’t be afraid of it, but don’t be a dickhead and don’t try to be someone you’re not.

Authentic self, true to who you are that’s what being a man is all about and we only get this life to find out who we are so don’t fuck it up.

Nine cuts more jobs because of Ai

The reality at the moment in the world is that we actually need more decent media outlets. We need truth and we need content that does make a difference and does hold the world to account. Sadly though we are watching those outlets and the quality journalists that produce quality content wiped away from the industry.

Fairfax the owners of the Age, Channel 9 etc have announced more job cuts because of Ai. No, not because Ai can now write articles in the style of various newspapers but because Ai is scraping content and people are using Ai platforms to get their news. The kicker for media outlets is that there are fewer people going to mainstream outlets for their news, fewer eyeballs means less revenue less revenue means jobs for journalists and that is a terrible thing.

It must be said that there are those that shouldn’t be allowed to claim their journalists so we can do with less of them but Ai isn’t having an impact on them, rather it’s having an impact on those that do care about truth and integrity.

While Albo has made some of the right noises about holding Ai companies to account we have in many ways already missed the boat. I think we are more cognisant of the fact that tech can move very quickly and get away from us but we also need to make sure we’re not allowing our lives to be over run by it. Media companies are no longer based on simply TV and selling newspapers they are highly complex multimedia platforms that have fingers in multiple pies. Some have adapted to the changing world better than others but right now we need real voices of reason, of truth and genuine accountability.

The sad reality is that the government won’t really care what happens to the media, so long as it can drive a narrative people agree with what does it care? If you’re the government and have a governmental broadcaster then who cares about commercial media? The fight for independent journalists is real and we need to do more to save real voices of truth because if we don’t Ai will tell us what’s important and what’s not.
